The Challenge
When Mount Golf Club constructed a new greenskeeper shed, planning consent required the installation of a dedicated firewater reserve tank.
The club needed a dependable, efficiently installed storage solution that would satisfy its fire-safety obligations. Several years later, it also required additional water to support course irrigation, without reducing the tank’s primary emergency firewater capability.

The Solution
An above-ground water storage tank was installed with a usable capacity of just over 250m³, measuring approximately 13 metres in diameter and 2.4 metres high.
In 2023, the tank was modified to support both emergency firewater storage and irrigation. The adaptation required controlled water inflow and output to maintain sufficient reserve capacity and preserve the tank’s core fire-safety function.

Advantages & Benefits of the solution
Clear site-preparation requirements supported an efficient initial installation and enabled the club to meet its regulatory firewater requirements without delay.
The later adaptation increased the value of the existing storage asset by allowing it to supplement irrigation while continuing to provide essential emergency water reserves.
The solution delivered:
Reliable firewater storage to meet consent requirements.
Efficient above-ground installation and straightforward site preparation.
Additional irrigation support from an existing storage asset.
Careful water-level management to protect emergency reserve capacity.
A flexible, long-term storage solution supporting both safety and course maintenance.
